DO I NEED A PERMIT?
When do you need a permit?
The best way to find out if you need a permit is to contact the Borough office. Discuss your plans with the Borough Secretary
before beginning construction to determine whether you need a permit.
Why do I need a permit?
By obtaining a municipal permit, you will protect the outcome
and investment value of your construction project and be able to
guard against a lawsuit or injury. The following information
describes a few simple steps you can take in order to obtain a
building permit and how permits can work for you. Building permits
are very beneficial to you and our community. By working with the
Borough, you will benefit from their knowledge of building codes to
ensure your construction project is built right, will be safe and
will last.
It is unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, move,
improve, remove, convert, or demolish any building or structure;
without a municipal permit.
The
Borough subcontracts the enforcement of the
UCC to
Code
Administrators, Inc. In most cases, a permit will need to be obtained
through the Borough office as well as through
Code Administrators,
Inc. You will be informed if contact with
Code Administrators, Inc
is necessary. Please check out their website for additional
information regarding permitting requirements pertaining to the UCC.
Code Administrators, Inc
website.
Please note that permits are not issued on the same day they are
submitted. To obtain your permit, it may take anywhere between 2
days and 2 weeks...it all depends upon the project, the required
paperwork, etc. It is always best to take your time to ensure that
you have all of the required information when applying for a permit.
Payment is due when you pick up your permit. Please reference the
